It won’t take long while you’re shopping for interior doors for sale to realize there are many choices, options, and features available. This means you must do your due diligence and arm yourself with all kinds of information to make the best decision on new doors for your home’s interior.

Styles, Designs, and Types of Interior Doors

One of the first things to consider when shopping for discount doors is what you want them to look like! Designs can include panel doors, French doors, and others.

Some interior doors for sale are double French doors that are hinged on one side and swing outward, and others are single Shaker entryway doors that are elegantly understated.

Some of the most popular interior doors are flat panel doors made of panels nailed or glued to a frame. Many modern doors have just the “look” of panel doors but are really just one sculpted piece.

Your home’s interior, from your living room to your dining room, can all have identical new doors, or each can be unique! No matter your ideas, Seconds & Surplus has the best selection of discount panel doors, French doors, and more to help.

Materials of Interior Doors

Some options for doors include solid core doors and hollow core interior doors. Both types are available in many materials, including fiberglass, wood, and metal.

Solid core doors are made from a solid piece of wood, making them heavier but more durable. Their functionality includes an improved ability to isolate noise.

Hollow core doors are made from honeycombed wood with a solid core in the center, making them easy to install and maneuver because they are lighter in weight. However, they’re often not as durable as solid core doors.

Slab Doors vs. Prehung Doors

Prehung doors are simply doors that are solid with the frame and hinges already installed. This makes installation quick and easy for homeowners to install themselves for DIY home improvement projects.

An alternative to the prehung door is the slab door. Slab interior doors are made of a single piece of MDF or wood and are available in just as many styles as prehung doors, including modern, traditional, and contemporary. They’re easy to customize and affordable, too.

Interior Door Options for Size, Finish, and More

There are many options for door sizes. The standard size is 36” wide by 80” tall. However, many other sizes are available, including 24” wide, 48” wide, and 72” tall. When trying to verify what door size you’ll need, consider the size of the room you are dividing and the available space.

As for interior door finishes, they can vary considerably, from modern metal finishes to traditional wood finishes. Many doors, however, are purchased in either a primed or unfinished, natural state to allow the purchaser to paint them whatever color they desire.

Other options for interior doors include thresholds, knobs and levers, doorjambs, glass type, and more! For example, will you have your doorjambs installed flush with the wall? Will you have a threshold or not? Do you want glass in the door? If so, will you have it clear or frosted?
